There are moments when purpose transcends profit — when a company’s heart can be seen not just in the services it provides, but in the lives it touches. That was the spirit behind GMVA Gives: Charity Event of 2025, an initiative rooted in compassion, solidarity, and real action. Organized by the dedicated Charity Event Committee led by Candice and Shyr, this event brought together 46 volunteers, 30 Virtual Assistants (VAs) and 16 support staff, for a day of giving, service, and connection.

At its core, GMVA Gives sought to partner with vulnerable communities to deliver hope, care, and tangible support. Among our partners for the day was ChildHope Philippines Foundation, Inc. (ChildHope PH), represented by inspiring speakers such as Mylene Lagman, Deputy Executive Director, and Josefina Pamela Carpio, MD, DPCOM / KliniKalye Project Officer who both shared heartfelt messages to motivate and guide our volunteers.

This blog post tells the story of that day: what we did, what moved us, and why GMVA believes in doing more than just business.

Activities & Highlights of the Event

The day began with warm welcomes and a brief program led by our Charity Event Committee. Candice and Shyr set the tone, reminding everyone of GMVA’s commitment to compassion, community, and connectedness beyond the virtual office. Volunteers gathered with enthusiasm, ready to do more than just “lend a hand.” They came ready to show care.

One of the most touching moments came during the speeches of partnered organizations’ representatives. Dr. Josefina Pamela Carpio offered a more clinical perspective grounded in empathy. As Project Officer for the organization’s KliniKalye program (a mobile health clinic initiative), she spoke about the vital importance of accessible healthcare for underprivileged children and how many often go without even basic check-ups, and how volunteer-driven events like ours help bridge that gap.

Mylene Lagman from ChildHope PH followed, spoke passionately about the organization’s mission: giving children in street situations not just immediate aid, but sustainable support in health, education, and emotional well-being. Her message resonated deeply with everyone present.

Their words reminded us that what we give, such as time, care, attention,  can mean real differences in a child’s life.

“It was a humbling experience. Hearing the kids’ stories of struggle made me realize how blessed we all are,” Sherryn, one of the Operations Managers, said as she reflected on her experience.

After the speeches, our 46 volunteers divided into small teams and set out on various activities aligned with the event’s goals. Some provided frontline assistance to ChildHope PH beneficiaries — whether through health-check support, distributing hygiene kits or basic supplies, or simply spending time with the children to brighten their day. Others helped with logistics, organizing materials, and ensuring smooth coordination. As one volunteer said in the video:

“It’s not about how much you give, but that you truly care.”

That sentiment echoed throughout the day.

Reflection for the Day

By the end of the event, what stood out was not just the number of supplies distributed, nor the tasks performed but the feeling of unity, empathy, and shared purpose. Through collective effort, our team made a real-world impact. Through their actions, GMVA’s core value of T.E.A.M (Together Everyone Achieves More) came alive.

Moreover, the partnership with ChildHope PH underscored how companies like ours can collaborate meaningfully with non-profits to serve communities in need. This aligns with what many experts highlight as a key benefit of corporate philanthropy: fostering strong brand image, improving community trust, and reinforcing good engagement.

By involving our own volunteers, we deepened our team’s sense of belonging, purpose, and mutual respect. Trust and cohesion at work are built through consistent, genuine gestures such as listening, appreciating, and acting with integrity.

Candice, one of the Senior Operations Managers, reflected on her experience with the charity event and said, “What makes this experience even more fulfilling is the chance to take the lead in this initiative. Seeing VAs, other support members, and our executive team embrace the advocacy has been inspiring.”

Why This Event Matters

For GMVA, integrating charity, compassion, and community into our identity does more than improve public perception. It reflects who we are.

  • Building trust and credibility: By opening up our efforts and sharing real stories, we show we care. Authentic communication grows trust.
  • Strengthening company culture: Volunteers working side by side strengthens relationships, builds empathy, and boosts morale. These intangible benefits often translate into better teamwork, loyalty, and a deeper sense of purpose.
  • Meaningful community impact: For many children supported by ChildHope PH, access to basic care and attention may not always come easy. By partnering with credible organizations and delivering support on the ground, GMVA contributes to real change — not temporary aid, but hope, dignity, and long-term possibility.

This event isn’t a one-off check mark. It is part of our ongoing commitment to living our values, uplifting communities, and building a brand rooted in compassion and integrity.

Conclusion

GMVA Gives: Charity Event of 2025 reminds us that even as a virtual-first company, our impact doesn’t stop at screens or service lines. It touches people’s lives, especially those who need it most. When we unite our time, hearts, and resources, together we can be a force of hope.

As we reflect on this successful event, GMVA reaffirms its commitment to continuing meaningful partnerships, sustained community engagement, and a culture where every team member can contribute to something bigger than themselves.

We at GMVA believe: true success is measured not only by what we earn, but by what we give.
